Someone whose ever been lock up for steal?

My cousin just found out she has they are trying to arrest her for stealing 700 dollars from her old job she is 18 she live in hoover alabama. she has never been i trouble, they told her mother she has 48 hours to turn her self in. what kind of trouble will she get in?Will she have to go to prison?
